Update on Balcatta Senior High School Redevelopment

28 October 2020

Construction of the McGowan Government’s $50 million commitment to redevelop Balcatta Senior High School is progressing well.

The upgrade includes a new performing arts centre, sports hall and design and technology workshops, all of which are nearly finished.

I recently visited Balcatta Senior High School to meet with school Principal Helen Maitland and see the progress on the school’s brand new state-of-the-art facilities.

I was pleased to see that some of the new classrooms are already in use and to hear that construction on the new building is on track to be ready for next term!

School staff are preparing to relocate into the new building during the school holidays. The classrooms in the heritage buildings will begin refurbishments from Term 4.

This major redevelopment is being delivered by local construction firm PS Structures, which means more jobs for Western Australians.

This is by far the largest investment in Balcatta Senior High School since it opened in 1967 - it is fantastic to see it all come together.
