Stephenson Avenue Extension Update

Stephenson Avenue Extension Update Main Image

30 October 2019

The Stephenson Avenue extension project reached a significant milestone in July when the State Government and the City of Stirling signed a Statement of Intent to progress the first phase of the project.

The Stephenson Avenue extension, an important election commitment of mine, will ease congestion on local roads like Cedric Street, Scarborough Beach Road and Ellen Stirling Boulevard.

The project will extend Stephenson Avenue from Scarborough Beach Road to Cedric Street and connect key activity hubs, including Westfield Innaloo Shopping Centre, the Osborne Park industrial area and the Stirling City Centre.

The detailed design for Phase One has been completed and involves a traffic signalised intersection at Scarborough Beach Road, new local road connections at Oswald Street and Howe Street, streetscaping and pedestrian and cycling facilities.

The next phase is currently being designed by Main Roads and will extend Stephenson Avenue from Howe Street to Cedric Street and incorporate connections to the Mitchell Freeway.
