Construction is underway to modify the Hutton Street on-ramp as part of the Smart Freeway rollout on the Mitchell Freeway southbound.

Traffic turning left from Hutton Street to the on-ramp will be converted to give-way. This will mean that cars will no longer need to merge across traffic to turn onto Cape Street.

Once complete, the Cape Street entrance to the on-ramp will turn into its own new lane.

The Smart Freeway project will deliver coordinated ramp signals at freeway entry ramps from Hester Avenue to Vincent Street, and will mean less stop-start conditions for a faster, smoother drive.
